Here's the next edition in our series of staff profiles. This time, I introduce to you our Interpreter Jessie! I'll let her take it away...
Q. What do you do at THEMUSEUM?
I am an interpreter! That's sort of a catch-all term, but it essentially means that I get to do things such as give gallery tours, make crafts and teach school programs.
Q. Give us the elevator pitch on you.
I live in London with my family, dogs, and cat. I am dating a man who grew up four doors away from me but who I met through a co-worker. I am amazed that the world is simultaneously so big and so small. I did my honours BA at UofG in Art History, with minors in Art Theory and Criticism and Museum Studies. As you can tell from my high in demand degree, I'm just in it for the money. More recently I have been doing a library science program which I will be excited to finish in August. I want to be able to combine my loves of art and literature into some sort of amazing job where I get to show people how museums and libraries aren't boring quiet places, but places full of life and passion and interest. As I have yet to see that as a job title, I am currently working on inventing this career. Although art is my primary interest, I also like apiculture and other sorts of organic farming, being outside, and not wearing socks.
Q. If you were so inclined, how would you attempt to take over the world?
Napoleon style. We share a birthday so I feel a special affinity for him. Of course, I would learn from history and never try to invade Russia in the winter.
Q. Team Edward or Team Jacob? (if you're younger than 25) Sonny or Cher? (if you're older than 25)
Seeing as how I am exactly 25 this year (and have never read Twilight) I'm going to answer the latter. Team Cher most definitely- I aspire to one day be able to have as many costume changes per day as her.
Q. Do you prefer long walks on the beach? Or long walks in the streets? And why?
In the streets! Why? Mostly because I am a very pale person and afraid of the sun. But also because some of the best times I have had have involved getting lost (intentionally or otherwise) in amazing cities. Example- getting lost in Florence on the way to the Uffizi gallery and stumbling into a wine festival!
Q. If you were a webpage, what would you be about?
Pictures of kittens of course.
Q. If you were stuck in THEMUSEUM overnight, what exhibit would you play with the most?
I would challenge myself to boat races on the water table and then sleep "under the stars" in the StarLab.
