Mlimination, our take on March Madness, has swept through the office and captivated many staff members, as our beloved M’s duke it out in cyberspace. Many of us here at THEMUSEUM have taken to filling out brackets in a friendly office competition in order to see who could correctly predict the results all the way through to the final matchup. Being the competitor that I am, as soon as the bracket design was completed by Rachel (of our famed Intern Army), I quickly pulled out a pencil and began plotting the course for the many M logos.
 

I originally wrote most of this post a few days ago when it looked like many M's fates had been sealed. But a flurry of activity in the 5 or so hours before the Round 1 deadline launched a few come from behind wins. I must admit, they happened to be in my favour and it seems like there was some "campaigning" going on to garner some votes, but I promise you, it was not I who was out canvassing the streets looking for Coffee and St. Patrick's Day votes.

Up until a few hours ago, my bracket was severely busted. But much like March Madness, there were some last second miracles that saved the day. Let’s analyze my bracket to date:

Match 1: Corporate Black & Red vs. After Dark
My Pick: After Dark  Winner: After Dark
To me, this was a no-brainer. But other “sure bets” have fallen by the wayside as well.

Match 2: Corporate Red & Black vs. Volunteers
My Pick: Volunteers  Winner: Volunteers
Red & Black jumped out to an early lead here, but Volunteers made a stunning comeback on the last day. And thankfully they did as I had Volunteers moving on for a few rounds.

Match 3: Corporate White & Red vs. Coffee
My Pick: Coffee  Winner: Coffee
This is critical for me as I have Coffee going all the way to the final 4. And it was a close match right up until the end when Coffee finally pulled away.

Match 4: Corporate White & Red vs. Membership
My Pick: Membership  Winner: Membership
Membership won handily and looks to be a contender to make it out of The Corporate Cast Region to the final 4.

Match 5: Santa vs. Winter
My Pick: Santa  Winner: Winter
This one really surprised me. I thought Santa had this locked. Not only was I wrong, but Winter destroyed Santa. This really hurt my bracket as I had Santa making it to Round 3.

Match 6: Present vs. New Years
My Pick: New Years  Winner: New Years
I was pretty confident that New Years would pull away. It was close but it prevailed.

Match 7: Halloween vs. St. Patrick’s Day
My Pick: St. Patrick’s Winner: St. Patrick's Day
Between the hat and proximity to the actual St. Patrick’s Day, I though Halloween was the clear loser here. But until a few hours before the end of Round 1, Halloween was taking it to St. Patrick's Day. I'm very happy by this stunning comeback as I have SPD in the final 4!

Match 8: Birthdays vs. Valentine’s Day
My Pick: Valentine’s Day  Winner: Birthdays
This was a toss-up to me and I picked poorly. The Shindig region was a complete disaster. I’m going to have to make up points in the other regions.

Match 9: Blog vs. Podcast
My Pick: Podcast  Winner: Blog
Outside of the office competition, I really want Podcast to win. I have it losing to the Beer M in Round 3, but I’d be happy for it to go further.

Match 10: Featured Events vs. Question
My Pick: Question  Winner: Featured Events
I thought Question M was pretty cool, but people really loved Featured Events.

Match 11: Intern Army vs. Beer
My Pick: Beer  Winner: Beer
I really like the Intern Army, but it drew a tough early matchup against Beer which is my pick to win it all.

Match 12: Movember vs. Living Wall
My Pick: Movember  Winner: Movember
Movember would be a tough opponent for any M. It has an epic matchup in Round 2 versus Beer M. I have Beer M winning, but wouldn’t be surprised to see Movember pull the upset.

Match 13: Education vs. Star Lab
My Pick: Education  Winner: Education
Education is a powerhouse and will be a force to reckon with.

Match 14: Searching For Tom vs. Film
My Pick: Searching For Tom  Winner: Searching For Tom
I felt that this was a tough pick and for a while it was a tight race until the perseverant Searching For Tom M broke away for the win.

Match 15: Robot vs. Summer Camp
My Pick: Robot  Winner: Summer Camp
Robot is clearly a contender, which is a shame since Summer Camp is pretty good in its own right. I have Robot going to the finals.

Match 16: Hair United vs. KW Glee
My Pick: KW Glee  Winner: KW Glee
This went right down to the wire, but in the end the brand power of Glee was too much for Hair United.
