This is today’s update on the Case of the Kidnapped Chick. Someone is pulling a huge prank on us and no one knows who is doing it. Here are the previous updates: 1, 2, 3, 3.1, The Usual Suspects, & the last post. If you want a run down of the potential suspects or a refresher of who's who, check out The Usual Suspects post.
Big news! The chick has been returned with as many questions as its disappearance caused.
As I mentioned last time I was out of the office for the last two days and I've been trying to piece together the events that led to its return. It was found Monday morning just chilling out with the craft chick (remember him/her?) sitting on the window ledge by David's office along with our slowly growing snow globe collection, staring out the window, looking like it was just relaxing on a warm day at the beach. No big deal, right?

I must confess, it's quite the disappointing end to the most intriguing - and only - mystery I've ever been a part of. Kind of like the feeling some Lost fans had after the series finale. No more letters, no more instructions, no more endless speculation in the hallways, no more accusatory glances at anyone making a suspicious comment or action. The kidnapper has just disappeared into thin air leaving us all grasping at the few clues and hints left behind and still utterly suspicious of everyone around us.
Well done, kidnapper.
Well done.
Will the mystery ever be solved? Will there be any more clues? Will we ever have more contact from the kidnapper? Or is this the end? I certainly hope not. I don't know if I can live in a world where chick kidnappers run free and wild, unpunished with no repercussions. Can you?
No, I can't settle for this. It may be a cold case for now and the chick has been returned unscathed, but that doesn't mean a crime wasn't committed and justice doesn't need to be served. More importantly, the fact that my mind was completely consumed for over a weeks' time and this is such an unsatisfactory ending. It's just not fair!
But maybe this is just a psychological test from the kidnapper - maybe something or someone else is next to disappear? Or maybe it's just wishful thinking on my part (wishing that something or someone is made to disappear, very nice).
My only advice to those who have been following along is to stay perserverant, gumshoes. We'll track him/her down in time. Mark my words.
