The Brush Off, Junior Edition returns for fourth year
19 junior artists will compete in live-art contest
Kitchener, ON – On Saturday, April 23 at 7:00pm THEMUSEUM will come alive for The Brush Off, Junior Edition. This event, which is seeing its fourth consecutive year, will feature 19 junior artists, aged 14 to 18, compete in a friendly live-art competition. 34 original works will be created and placed in a silentauction for attendees to bid on. The proceeds are spilt between the artists and THEMUSEUM.
The top four artists from Idea Exchange’s The Brush Off, Junior Edition’s competition, which took place on March 30, will also be competing at THEMUSEUM. This stems from a partnership between the two organizations which began last year. The goal is to give young, emerging artists the opportunities to showcase their talent and creativity on stages throughout their local communities, and across Waterloo Region as a whole.
“We are very excited to be hosting The Brush Off, Junior Edition again this year,” said David Marskell, CEO of THEMUSEUM. “This event brings together the local arts community, and allows young artists to show off their artistic talent; it’s another event that showcases THEMUSEUM as a cultural hub of southwestern Ontario.”
As the artists began painting, audience votes will determine who moves on to the final rounds. All of THEMUSEUM’s exhibitions – including Ice Age Mammals, Terry Fox – Running to the Heart of Canada, and The Aging Dialogues – will also be open during the event.
Tickets are $20.00 (taxes included), and the event is open to all ages. A cash bar will be on-site, as well as snacks for sale from B @ THEMUSEUM. The Brush Off, Junior Edition will be emceed by Jennifer Gough and Heather Riemersma of New Art Radio KW. More information and tickets are available online at www.THEMUSEUM.ca.
