We are currently hiring:

POSITION: Visitor Services Coordinator (Full Time, 37.5 hours per week)

DEPARTMENT: Visitor Services (Operations)

REPORTS TO:  Meaghan Hawkins, Senior Director of Sales & Operations

Job Summary

Reporting to the Senior Director of Sales & Operations, the Visitor Services Coordinator has a key role in front-of-house operations providing superior customer service to all visitors. This entry-level position is responsible for admitting all visitors, administration and various reports, upselling including execution of the membership and merchandise programs. The incumbent also works with a select number of part-time front desk attendee staff and is required to provide front desk and POS training to select museum staff. The Visitor Services Coordinator provides support to the entire museum team through a strong commitment to customer service, constant communication and growing revenue.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute front desk activity including  admission of visitors, email inquiries, phone inquiries, and completing opening/closing procedures
  • Execute a vibrant merchandise program reporting through the Sales Manager that includes:
    • Custom items for THEMUSEUM brand, and adult programming/special events
    • The Underground Studio MakerSpace
    • Novelty items for children & families
    • Connections to permanent and special exhibitions
  • Execute membership sale program and upsell memberships to visitors as directed by Development team
  • Maintain sales and attendance reports daily, weekly, monthly, annually
  • Work with Controller to ensure accounting responsibilities are fulfilled for organization
  • Ensure front desk attendees are fully trained to run the front desk area
  • Ensure other designated museum staff are trained on the POS for daily coverage
  • Active member of the Health & Safety committee
  • Work with IT provider and POS provider on any tech issues to make the front desk more efficient
  • Adhere to and maintain policies and procedures as they pertain to the job
  • Maintain a personal career growth track as negotiated with immediate supervisor annually pertaining to sales and customer service
  • Other duties as assigned, including evening and weekend shifts

Job Requirements

  • Customer service skills, organization & time management skills, an asset
  • Cash handling experience and working with point-of-sale systems
  • Ability to work quickly and efficiently, and think on your feet with little supervision
  • Available for regular schedule of typical museum open hours weekly, Wednesday-Sunday
  • Experience or interest in cultural institutions, museums, galleries an asset
  • Post-secondary education, an asset
  • Valid First Aid certification and Smart Serve would be an asset
