Kim Fellows, one of our Interpreters relayed this pretty amazing story from the ADD COLOUR: A Yoko Ono Exhibition that I'd like to share with you:
On the 4th floor, in the HEAL room (canvas with mending), I asked a young boy to show me what he had been working on. He pointed at some initials he stitched … “N.W.”
“Are those your initials?” I asked him.
“No, they’re my friend’s, who just died of leukemia.”
The boy is 11 years old, and his friend was 11. The boy’s mom let me know how great the ADD COLOUR exhibit has been for him.
This is a beautiful story about how ideas can transcend objects. Though it is just a torn canvas hanging from the ceiling, this boy used it to heal his sadness from losing a friend.
THEMUSEUM’s mission is to scan the globe for fresh cultural content and use it to stage experiences that stimulate transformative connections for our audiences.
To us, it’s more than art on a wall. We use it to ignite conversations, inspire creative thinking, and promote the creative culture this community has to offer.
Your tax-deductible gift will be used to bring dynamic exhibitions, programs, and education opportunities from across the globe to Waterloo Region and make THEMUSEUM a creative hub for creative thinking and explorative play for visitors of all ages.

“I donated because I consider THEMUSEUM to be a jewel in K-W. The programs and displays are great and we have needed this kind of museum in this community. I sit on a Board of a charitable organization and I know how difficult fund raising can be so I always try and support the organizations that I believe provide incredible value to the community. Yours is one of them for me.”

"I chose to donate to THEMUSEUM because I believe that it provides a very important educational element and it's a great place to host other events that bring people from the community together."
- Margaret McColl
"Though we don't get to drop by the Museum as often as we'd like, we really love the exhibits and its general family-friendly atmosphere. Our toddler son loves the infant/toddler room on the main floor! We loved the Titanic and Avatar exhibits, and hope to get to the Unwrapping Egypt very soon."

"You appreciate your members and donors! There are many reasons why I donate to THEMUSEUM. I love the work you do. Your exhibits and events are wonderfully creative, diverse, surprising and simply delightful! I also like the way you think about the community. You steward THEMUSEUM and at the same time you support the broader creative community. I see it in the newsletter, in your support of the creative sector roundtables, The Brush Off, etc. That impresses me tremendously. So, simply, you do good work. We have been members for 2 years -- although I was a member way back when it was the Children’s Museum -- reconnecting to bring our 2 little grandsons, who love it. I want to ensure you continue as a treasured part of our community creative sector!"
