Gallery Attendant

Position Title: Gallery Attendance for Nature Unleashed: Inside Natural Disasters 

Department: Programing

Report to: Public Program Coordinator

Time Commitment

6 hours per week, Monday – Friday or on weekends, available for the duration of the exhibition (July 1st 2016 – February 20th 2017)

Exhibition Description

Nature Unleashed: Inside Natural Disasters explores some of the world's most powerful natural disasters: tornadoes, volcanoes, hurricanes, and earthquakes. Volunteers will assist visitors in navigating the space and provide additional information about the exhibition.

Volunteer Description

  • Provide support to Interpreters (THEMUSEUM floor-staff), Docents and Exhibit Animators by helping with crowd-control, customer/visitor-service, and assisting with our public programs
  • Public-facing role, expected to be able to converse and answer questions about the exhibitions and displays
  • Lead exhibition-specific programming & demonstrations in the exhibition space.
  • May have the opportunity to assist with dialogues, at both THEMUSEUM and off-site locations

Skills and Experience

  • Proactive, driven, and a great communicator
  • Demonstrated ease while speaking and interacting with the general public
  • Able to work in a fast paced environment
  • Able to jump into the role and provide help where needed
  • Fast learner; able to quickly learn specific information regarding the exhibition and in turn deliver it to our visitors in an engaging and entertaining manner 

Orientation/Training

Orientation will be provided, along with information about both the organization and specific position
