THEMUSEUM and Community Coalition on Refugee & Immigrant Concerns Collaborate for World Refugee Day
Exhibit honors refugees this June
Kitchener, ON: THEMUSEUM in downtown Kitchener is proud to partner with The Community Coalition on Refugee and Immigrant Concerns (CCORIC) this June in presenting the second annual World Refugee Art Exhibition for World Refugee Day. The theme of this year’s exhibition is “No One Chooses to Be a Refugee”
From June 1st – 27th, THEMUSEUM will showcase the works of nine local refugee artists in hopes of honouring refugees around the world who have shown their strength in the face of fear, pain, and violence.
The exhibit will launch with an event on June 1st from 2-4pm where the artists will share stories about their journeys and artwork. The exhibition is a part of a broader community effort to shed light on current world issues while highlighting the advancements of refugees living among us.
“Our mission at THEMUSEUM is to scan the globe for fresh cultural content and use it to stage experiences that stimulate transformative connections for our audiences” said David Marskell, CEO of THEMUSEUM. “We hope our community can begin to not only see the disputes around the world, but the human faces in our community that are directly affected.”
The World Refugee Art Exhibition will be open to the public at THEMUSEUM in downtown Kitchener for the month of June. Doors open Wednesday to Sunday at 10 A.M. For more information please visit www.THEMUSEUM.ca
