THEMUSEUM shines light on refugee experiences

Kitchener, ON: THEMUSEUM in downtown Kitchener is proud to announce that they will be hosting the World Refugee Art Exhibition for the month of June.

The Community Coalition on Refugee and Immigrant Concerns (CCORIC) has brought together 23 local organizations to honour the millions of refugees around the world. THEMUSEUM is presenting an art display to share the inspiring stories of people from refugee background, as well as artwork depicting refugee experience.

In addition to the original artwork from seven local artists of refugee or immigrant backgrounds there will also be a photo exhibit from the Mennonite Coalition for refugee support. Youth Speak Up is made up of a collection of photographs from a youth’s perspective. It encompasses the first impressions and challenges faced when moving to a new community.

On Wednesday June 5th, THEMUSEUM will host a reception for the artists to speak about their art with the public. The reception will take place between 6:30 and 8:00 P.M.
“THEMUSEUM Team is proud to be presenting such an inspiring exhibition,” says David Marskell, CEO of THEMUSEUM. “Not only are we honouring the millions of refugees around the world, but those in our community who have become successful or inspirational members of society.”

The World Refugee Art Exhibition will be open to the public at THEMUSEUM in downtown Kitchener for the month of June.
